Confirm whether the product is a feeding bottle made of polymer material or another material category.
Verify
For covered polymer feeding bottles, verify the applicable SLS 1306 certification or import-inspection path.
Inspect
Check bottle, teat, ring, cap and seals for condition and replace parts according to product guidance.
Fit
Use age/flow and feeding instructions supplied for the product, and seek qualified clinical guidance for feeding concerns.
The rule
From 1 April 2026, polymer feeding bottles within CAA Direction No. 96 are subject to the SLS 1306 conformity route described in the official sources. For exact legal scope and current implementation, check the Gazette and Sri Lanka Standards Institution information.
Glass and plastic are different trade-offs
Glass feeding bottles
Transparent and resistant to scratching, but heavier and breakable. Use only according to the manufacturer's heat, sterilisation and handling instructions.
Polymer feeding bottles
Lighter and less prone to shattering. Verify the applicable SLS evidence where required and follow replacement and cleaning guidance from the manufacturer.
